JANAKPUR: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal disrupted the Madhes Provincial Assembly meeting, demanding revisions to the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

Although Sunday’s agenda included discussions on the budget, the meeting was interrupted as soon as it began.

Province Assembly member Raju Prasad Gupta from JSP Nepal called for the government’s official stance on the three-point demand submitted to the Chief Minister on June 30.

Gupta stated that despite submitting a letter of attention for budget amendments, the issues had not been addressed, prompting their decision to halt the proceedings.

Speaker Ramchandra Mandal urged the members to cooperate in running the meeting, noting that an agreement had been reached to amend the Appropriation Bill-2081 following last Friday’s obstruction.

However, Gupta insisted that further discussions on the budget would proceed only after the amendment talks.

Following this, all JSP members stood up, continuing the disruption.

In response, Speaker Mandal adjourned the meeting for 10 minutes.
