Yadav and splintered JSP faction yet to discuss party split

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Upendra Yadav returned from the United States of America (USA) on Tuesday morning, following his participation in a United Nations event.

However, during his absence, significant developments unfolded within his own party, the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, as Ashok Rai led a faction to splinter from the party.

Rai, along with seven lawmakers, established a new political entity named the Janata Samajbadi Party.

Upon his return, Yadav promptly convened a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Notably, he has yet to engage with leaders of the faction led by Rai, who chose to support the new party.

Nawal Kishor Sah, Forest and Environment Minister representing the newly formed JSP, remarked that Yadav has made no efforts to initiate dialogue with their faction.

“We have already embarked on a new journey,” Sah emphasized, suggesting a clear divergence within the party’s ranks.
