Three arrested for allegedly diverting subsidized fertilizer to Birgunj



BAGLUNG: Police have arrested three people for allegedly diverting subsidized urea fertilizer meant for farmers in Baglung to Birgunj for black-market sale.

According to the District Police Office, the arrests were made after an investigation confirmed that urea purchased from two agricultural supply stores in Baglung Bazaar had been transported to Birgunj on a night bus.

Those arrested are Dinesh Pandit Kumar of Chhipaharmai Rural Municipality-6, Parsa, and Kul Bahadur Rana Magar and Binay Shakya of Baglung Municipality-2.

Police said the suspects allegedly diverted fertilizer that was allocated for sale to farmers in Baglung under the district’s designated quota.

The three are being investigated under the Black Marketing and Some Other Social Offences and Punishment Act.
