New CJ Raut to be sworn in today



KATHMANDU: Newly-appointed Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut will be sworn in today.

According to sources at Shital Niwas, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 PM at the President’s Office.

As the oath ceremony approaches, the Supreme Court is making preparations for the inauguration program.

Raut’s appointment follows the retirement of the current Chief Justice, Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, who stepped down on Saturday after reaching the age limit of 65 years.

The Constitutional Council recommended Raut’s appointment, and he received unanimous approval from the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
