Madhav Nepal calls Unified Socialist’s PP meeting

KATHMANDU: Amidst discussions regarding the potential division within the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) and Unified Socialist Party, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of Unified Socialist has called a meeting of the parliamentary party (PP).

Scheduled for this afternoon, this meeting is expected to serve as a strategic move to address concerns and prevent further split the Unified Socialist ranks.

Sources suggest that Madhav Nepal’s motive behind the meeting is to reiterate the party’s cohesion, particularly to dissuade disenchanted its from splintering.

There are apprehensions within Madhav Nepal’s camp regarding potential factionalism, with indications pointing towards a looming division within the party.

In a strategic maneuver, there are deliberations to replace Upendra Yadav as Deputy Prime Minister with a member from a fractured JSP faction.

Metmani Chaudhary confirmed the scheduling of the parliamentary party meeting to strategize the next course of action.

Internally, Unified Socialist is grappling with divergent opinions regarding its stance vis-à-vis the government.

While some advocate for continued participation, others advocate for maintaining an independent stance.

This internal discord has led to discontent among parliamentarians, fostering dialogue across various platforms.

Notably, amid these deliberations, influential figures like Jhalanath Khanal are advocating for Unified Socialist to sustain its alignment with CPN-UML and Maoist Center, emphasizing the importance of a unified front.
