KATHMANDU: As the date for the by-elections scheduled on April 27 in Ilam-2 and Bhajang-1 draws near, candidates vying for parliamentary seats are gearing up to officially enter the electoral fray by filing their nominations today.

According to the Election Commission, candidates are invited to file their nominations at the respective election offices between 10 am to 5 pm today.

This marks a crucial step in the electoral process, as contenders formally declare their candidacy for the upcoming by-elections.

Following the nomination filing process, the Election Commission has set a deadline for lodging complaints against the nominations, allowing concerned parties to address any grievances until 3 pm on Sunday.

Candidates who wish to withdraw their candidacy have until April 9 to do so, with the allocation of election symbols scheduled for the same day.

The by-elections, slated for April 27, will commence from 7 am to 5 pm, providing voters ample time to cast their ballots and participate in the democratic process.

Notable candidates contesting for the House of Representatives seat in Ilam-2 include:

  • Suhang Nembang from CPN-UML
  • Milan Limbu from Rastriya Swatantra Party
