Dengue affects over 28,000 people across Nepal

Six districts including Kathmandu at high risk

KATHMANDU: Dengue fever has affected over 28,000 people across Nepal.

As of the latest report from the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, a total of 28,212 individuals have been diagnosed with the infection so far.

The disease has spread to 76 of the country’s 77 districts.

Among the seven provinces, Gandaki Province is facing the highest risk.

With 11 districts, Gandaki has reported 13,898 cases of dengue, accounting for nearly half (49.3%) of the total infections in the country.

Kaski district, in particular, has seen a significant number of cases, with 7,161 people infected.

Following Gandaki, the Bagmati Province has also experienced a high number of infections, with 9,132 cases reported.

Other provinces with notable case numbers include Koshi (1,742 cases), Lumbini (1,445 cases), and Sudurpaschim (1,189 cases).

Madhes and Karnali provinces are experiencing relatively fewer infections, with 487 cases reported in Madhes and 319 cases in Karnali.

The 10 districts with the highest number of dengue cases include Kaski, Kathmandu, Tanahu, Parbat, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Baglung, Gorkha, Bhaktapur, and Kailali.

Among these, six districts–Kaski, Kathmandu, Tanahu, Parbat, Lalitpur, and Chitwan — are considered to be at high risk.
