Dhulikhel-Khawa road: Freight vehicle operations suspended today and tomorrow

KAVREPALANCHOWK: The operation of cargo vehicles, including tippers, has been suspended for two days on the Dhulikhel-Khawa road section of the Araniko Highway in Kavre.

The Road Division Office Bhaktapur has enacted this temporary ban to facilitate ongoing road maintenance.

The suspension, effective today and tomorrow (Friday), aims to address the severe deterioration of the road, which has been exacerbated by the rainy season.

The condition of the main route connecting Kathmandu to Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Dolakha, Ramechhap, and the Tatopani border with China has deteriorated due to the negligence of builders.

The under-construction Dhulikhel-Khawa road section is particularly affected.

In light of this, the Road Division Office Bhaktapur has requested the public’s cooperation in road construction efforts.

Both tippers transporting construction materials and containers bringing goods from China through Khasa have been using this route.

A public notice issued on Wednesday announced the temporary halt of freight transport to support roadwork.

Previously, in May, the road section was closed for four hours daily for about a week for expansion work, with the exception of fire engines, ambulances, hearses, and security vehicles.

During that period, the transportation of goods by tippers and other vehicles was also banned for two weeks.
