KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has decided to halt the issuance of work permits to individuals seeking employment in war-torn Russia and Ukraine.
This decision comes as a response to growing concerns over Nepali youths enlisting in the Russian army despite the ongoing conflict in the region.
Previously, work permits were routinely granted for these countries, but the Department of Foreign Employment has now taken a decisive step to temporarily halt the approval process.
The move is aimed at addressing the alarming trend of Nepali youths losing their lives while serving in the Russian army during the conflict.
The Department issued a notification, explaining that the suspension of labor approvals will remain in effect until further arrangements are made.
This decision underscores the government’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of Nepali citizens and preventing their involvement in conflict zones.
