ISSR honored for its work in policy research

KATHMANDU: The Institute for Strategic and Socio-Economic Research (ISSR) has been honored for its outstanding work in the field of policy research during the sixth anniversary ceremony of the Policy Research Institute (PRI) on Thursday.

ISSR received the prestigious Niti Samman award for its significant contributions.

The chief guest of the ceremony, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, honored Naresh Shrestha, the director and member of the board of directors of the organization, with a certificate and a ceremonial shawl. ISSR was selected from among 125 institutions, along with Samriddhi Foundation and the Nepal Development Research Institute, for its role in policy research.

The selection was made by a recommendation committee led by former Chief Secretary Dr Som Lal Subedi. In addition to ISSR, Samriddhi Foundation and Nepal Development Research Institute were also recognized for their policy research contributions.

The ceremony also honored three individuals for ‘Employee of the Year,’ with Padma Bahadur Jirel, Dipendra Pant, and Riza Manandhar receiving awards for their service.

During the event, Executive Chairman of Policy Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Lekhnath Sharma, presented an overview of the organization’s progress.

A message from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who was out of the country, was read by Dr. Khagraj Adhikari, Policy Research Institute official. Prime Minister Oli’s Chief Economic Adviser, Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, also attended the event.
