KATHMANDU: Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City has launched a Zero Waste Mega Campaign as part of its initiative to transform the city into a clean, green and attractive destination.
The campaign began on Friday following the municipality’s declaration of fiscal year 2083/84 as Tourism Year.
According to Satya Devi Adhikari, chief of the Forest, Environment and Disaster Management Division, the campaign includes a daily one-hour cleaning drive from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
Under the initiative, government offices, ward offices, banks, schools and other public and private institutions across the sub-metropolitan city will participate in cleaning their premises and surrounding areas.
The municipality expects the campaign to improve urban cleanliness and enhance Hetauda’s appeal as it prepares for Tourism Year activities.
