Parliamentary Committee on Cooperatives-related fraud investigation seeks suggestions from political parties

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Special Investigation Committee on the misuse of savings in cooperative institutions has decided to seek written suggestions from political parties.

According to the Committee lead Surya Thapa, shared that the eighth meeting, on Tuesday, decided to request written suggestions regarding solutions and insights into issues from political parties.

“We have decided to write to political parties represented in the House of Representatives, especially those with national political recognition, to provide written insights and solutions to problems related to the cooperative sector, focusing on the four-point mandate given to us by the House of Representatives,” said Thapa.

He mentioned that the committee has been engaging with various bodies to identify problems and solutions in the cooperative sector.

“The eighth meeting of the Parliamentary Special Investigation Committee on the misuse of savings in cooperative institutions continued our efforts to understand and find solutions to the problems in the cooperative sector,” Thapa added.

The committee has held discussions with officials and employees of the National Cooperative Federation, the Central Cooperative Savings and Credit Union Limited, and the National Cooperative Bank Limited.

The committee has also decided to hold its next meeting on July 4.
