Rabi taken to govt Attorney’s Office for statement

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has been taken to the government Attorney’s Office in Kathmandu for further questioning.

Lamichhane’s statement was recorded for approximately six and a half hours on Friday in connection with allegations of embezzling funds from Kalimati’s Swarnalaxmi Cooperative.

However, as his statement was not completed that day, he was brought in again today.

Lamichhane had been brought to Kathmandu from Pokhara on Thursday.

A total of 680 individuals have filed complaints, claiming a collective loss of Rs 1.118 billion in the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative fraud.

The case involves 24 defendants, including Lamichhane, Chhabilal Joshi, among others, all of whom have been arrested.

Lamichhane was arrested on October 16 in connection with charges of cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.
