Agriculture Minister stresses on transferring technology to lessen climate change impacts



KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has said agriculture sector of the country has been affected due to climate change.

He laid emphasis on the need of transferring technology in order to lessen the impacts of climate change.

Inaugurating the international conference organized by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) here today, Minister Adhikari pointed out that all should stand together to address the sustainability of food system in mountain region in course of tackling the climate change.

He underlined that small and marginal farmers have made significant contribution to national food security, stating that the rich diversity of mountain ecosystem of the country has helped the livelihood of millions of people.

Sharing that the government has decided to adopted nature-friendly, simple and measures for sustainable solution to tackle the impacts of climate change, the Agriculture Minister mentioned that the Ministry was actively involved to develop and implement early warning system in agriculture system.

Minister Adhikari stressed the need of developing and transferring technology to reduce the impacts of climate change, according to ICIMOD.
