KATHMANDU: A small demonstration demanding justice in the Nirmala Kurmi murder case disrupted traffic in Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon.
Protesters, including relatives of the victim and women’s rights activists, reignited their movement, condemning the appointment of Badshah Kurmi as a Minister in the Lumbini Province government.
They accuse the ruling alliance of appointing Kurmi to shield him from the ongoing investigation.
The march from Maitighar to Baluwatar caused severe traffic jams, with long lines of vehicles stretching across the city for hours.
This is not the first time Kathmandu has experienced such gridlock.
Due to poorly managed traffic rules, regulations, and designated areas for protests and demonstrations, traffic jams have become a common occurrence in the capital.
