KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has dismissed rumors about the government’s collapse, urging lawmakers to stay focused on their legislative responsibilities and upcoming elections.
Addressing the UML parliamentary party meeting today, Oli criticized those who had predicted the government’s fall following Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s return from Thailand.
“I had told you not to follow those who spread illusions,” he said. “Now even Sher Bahadurji has admitted the government will not collapse. We must focus on our work, not on rumors.”
Oli highlighted that the government, formed through cooperation between two major parties, is committed to stability, development, good governance, and prosperity.
He stated that efforts are currently concentrated on preparing balanced and practical policies, programs, and the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of the new budget session, calling on lawmakers to focus on presenting and passing key policies, understanding the current situation, and actively addressing public concerns.
Referring to recent violent and anti-constitutional activities, Oli warned that the government would respond swiftly and, if necessary, take strict legal action against disruptive movements.
He also spoke about the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement with the United States, noting that as the agreement process has concluded, Nepal should now prioritize its own development initiatives instead of relying on external support.
Discussing the UML’s transformation under “Mission 2027,” Oli stressed the need for internal unity and mutual cooperation within the party. He instructed lawmakers to critically study key documents, understand the ground realities, and present facts boldly and respectfully in parliament.
