Cabinet approves National Strategy for Money Laundering Prevention and grants from Japan



KATHMANDU: The government has approved the National Strategy and Action Plan for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.

According to Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government Spokesperson Rekha Sharma, the Cabinet meeting held on Monday evening approved the money laundering-related action plan.

She also mentioned that the meeting approved a grant aid of Rs 382.2 million from the Japanese government for human resource development.

Government spokesperson Sharma stated that the meeting decided to present the bill to amend the Securities Act, 2007, to the Federal Parliament.

Additionally, the meeting decided to present the bills to amend the Financial Procedures and Financial Accountability Act, 2019, and the Nepal Bar Council Act, 1993, to the Parliament.

Similarly, the meeting approved the use of national forest land for the Tamor Corridor Liping Khola Hydropower Project, Burtibang–Paudi–Amarai–Tamghas Gorusinghe 132 kV Transmission Line, Herbal Production and Processing Company Limited, and Super Ghalemdi Hydropower Project.

Furthermore, the meeting decided to allocate 107 hectares of land in Lamkichuha Municipality, Kailali, for the Rani-Jamara-Kulariya Irrigation Project.
