Fog to persist in Terai, chance of snowfall in high hills



KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has reported a partial influence of the westerly wind in Nepal currently.

According to the Division’s latest update, the weather remains clear in the hilly areas of the country, with the rest experiencing partial cloud cover.

Areas in the Terai region of Lumbini, Bagmati, Madhes and Koshi provinces are currently being affected by cold and fog.

This afternoon, hilly areas in Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces will see mostly clear skies, while the remaining regions are expected to be partly cloudy.

Light rain is anticipated in a few places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and some areas in the remaining hilly regions.

There is a likelihood of light to moderate snowfall in selected locations in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as some high hills and mountain areas.

During the night, the hilly areas, including Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim, are expected to be generally cloudy, while the rest will remain partly cloudy.

The Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces, along with some other hilly areas, may experience light to heavy rainfall.

Additionally, there is a chance of light to moderate snowfall in many places in the high hills and Himalayan areas of the Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, as well as a few locations in the remaining high hills and Himalayan areas.

The Weather Forecasting Division has cautioned that daily life, health, transport, and air services may be impacted.

Consequently, it has advised taking necessary measures and precautions to mitigate potential effects and prepare for the cold weather.
