ACC Men’s Premier Cup: Nepal to face UAE in final

KATHMANDU: Nepal has entered the finals of the ACC Premier Cup based on the group stage results after the rain-affected semi-final match against Kuwait was canceled. Nepal is to play against UAE in the final on Monday.

Earlier, while chasing the target of 282 runs presented by Nepal at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kuwait lost 6 wickets in 8.3 overs and scored 37 runs.

The match was stopped due to rain.

As the match had to be canceled due to persistent rain and was not possible to restart, Nepal made it to the final based on the results obtained in the group stage.

Nepal entered the semi-finals as the winners of Group A, remaining undefeated and scoring seven points.

On the other hand, Kuwait, who entered the semi-finals as the runners-up of Group B, scored 6 points in the group stage. Kuwait lost to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the group stage.

Nepal will now play against (UAE) for the title. In the other semi-final held today, UAE defeated Oman by two runs according to the DL method and confirmed their place in the final.

A total of 10 teams participated in the Premier Cup, which is a qualifying tournament for the Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Pakistan this year. The participating teams were divided into two groups with five teams in each group.

Group ‘A’ of the Premier Cup included Oman, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Qatar along with Nepal. Similarly, Group B had Hong Kong, Kuwait, UAE, Singapore and Bahrain.

The winner of the tournament will qualify for the Asia Cup.
