Nepali cricket team announced to play in the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Zone Qualifiers



KATHMANDU: Leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has been included in the Nepali cricket team in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup Asia Zone Qualifiers.

The tournament is scheduled to commence Monday.

Previously, Lamichhane had opted out of the triangular T20I series to dedicate time to his family.

Wicketkeeper Binod Bhandari and Bibek Yadav have secured spots in the final 15-man squad.

Notably, Surya Tamang, Lokesh Bam, Sagar Dhakal, and Shyam Dhakal, who participated in the triangular series, have been omitted from the team.

The T20 World Cup Asia Zone Qualifiers will take place from October 30, with matches to be hosted at Mulpani and TU Cricket Grounds in Kathmandu.

Nepal finds itself in Group A, competing against Singapore, Oman, and Malaysia, while Group B comprises UAE, Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Kuwait.

The two top-performing teams from the qualifiers will secure berths in the next year’s T20 World Cup in America and West Indies.

Nepal is aiming to participate in the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2014.
