Police make public four arrested in connection with Lalita Niwas land scam



KATHMANDU: The police have made public four persons allegedly involved in the Lalita Niwas land scam amid a press conference today.

The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police four persons—Min Bahadur Gurung, 69, owner of the Bhatbhoteni Super Market, Dharma Prasad Gautam, 80, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7, Gopal Karki, 70, of Chandragiri Municipality-3 and Sudhir Shah, 68, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-4 on a charge of their involvement in the forgery of government documents intending to transfer public land at Lalita Niwas in Baluwatar in the name of private individuals.

On the occasion, the police said 143 ropanis of the public are found to have been transferred in the name of private individuals.

Earlier, the police released three persons—Surendra Man Kapali, Kaladhar Deuja, and Hupendra Mani KC–arrested in connection with the land scam.

Their release follows the interim order by the Supreme Court on July 19 asking the authorities to investigate the matter without arresting them and keeping them out of custody.

Investigations are underway and they will be concluded soon, said the Bureau Chief AIG Kiran Bajracharya.
