Marathon of over Rs 1.8 million prize to be organized in Pokhara



GANDAKI: An international Safal Pokhara Marathon Championship carrying a prize amount of Rs 1.85 million is going to be organized from February 17, 2024 at Pokhara of Kaski.

Ex-Sportsmen Forum Nepal is organising the Championship. Forum Treasurer Mahesh Poudel shared that the 42-kilometer open marathon would be organised towards men category.

The winner of this category would receive Rs 500,000 prize. Similarly, half-marathon of 21 kilometer towards women category, 10-kilometer race (women-men), five kilometer race (to be participated by school students), visually impaired and wheelchair race would also be organised, he mentioned.

Race competition targeting the men and women above 50 years has been included from this year in the championship.

Forum Chairperson Hari Prasad Parajuli said study regarding the alternative route for marathon race is underway.
