Police nab fraud for making false promises of employment in Portugal



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office apprehended Nimraj Dangi, a resident of Rolpa Gangadev Rural Municipality Ward no. 3, currently living in Kathmandu- 26 Gongabu on Sunday.

Dangi, aged 39, was arrested for allegedly deceiving Johnson Shrestha with false promises of employment in Portugal.

Dangi purportedly enticed Shrestha with an enticing offer of employment abroad, specifically in Portugal, assuring a prestigious job at a reputed hotel with a lucrative monthly salary of Rs 120,000. Falling prey to this ruse, Shrestha entrusted Dangi with a substantial sum of Rs. 10,00,000/- (One million rupees) to secure the promised employment opportunity.

Acting on the victim’s complaint, a team from the Valley Crime Division’s office launched an investigation, leading to Dangi’s arrest today, November 26, at 13:30 pm in Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward no. 26 Gongabu. He has been promptly transferred to the Foreign Employment Department in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further interrogation and necessary legal proceedings.
