JSP’s Statute Convention underway in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party’s statute convention is underway in Kathmandu.

The party’s Central Committee meeting held on Saturday approved the draft of the party’s statue.

The approved statute would be tabled in the party’s statute convention.

The convention is underway at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, the party’s Central Publicity Department Chief Purna Basnet, said.

A total of 761 delegates including 406 Central Committee members as well as 10 people nominated from the Provincial Committee, National Committee, Special Provincial Committee, District Committee, Metropolis, and Sister Organizations are participating in the convention.

A draft of the party’s statute will be presented and discussed on the first day of the convention. The Central Committee meeting was held on Saturday for the final preparation and approval of the draft statute.

The meeting held on Saturday also approved the formation of the Socialist Front (Samajwadi Morcha) that was announced last week to “safeguard the achievements obtained from the people’s war, people’s movement, Madhesh movement, and other political struggles”.

Basnet stated that the participating representatives will be divided into 11 groups and will discuss the statute.

Meanwhile, the central committee meeting of the party held on Saturday expelled five leaders — Dipendra Nembang, Deu Kumar Nembang, Mahendra Chaudhary, Manoranjan Goit and Dharmendra Marbaita — from the party on charge of their disloyalty to the party’s election campaigns in the general elections held last November.
