Gupteshwar cave generates over 54 million rupees in a year



GANDAKI: The Gupteshwar Mahadev Cave in Chorepatan, Pokhara, has reported an impressive revenue of 54.2 million rupees in the past year. This historic, religious, and tourist destination has become a favorite among visitors exploring Pokhara.

During the 28th Annual General Meeting of the Gupteshwar Mahadev Cave Conservation Committee, it was revealed that the revenue was sourced from various channels. Ticket sales contributed Rs. 42.8 million, the donation box garnered Rs. 2.7 million, donation receipts added Rs. 5.1 million, while Rs. 1.6 million came from bank interest. Additional income streams included revenue from the rented-out business complex and membership fees.

Chief Judge of Pokhara High Court, Madhav Prasad Pokharel, emphasized the importance of directing the income generated by the religious sector towards the development of education, health, and society at large. He made these remarks while inaugurating the AGM on Saturday.

During the event, Gandaki Provincial Assembly Secretary Hariram Pokhrel and Dhanusha District Judge Yognath Dhakal were honored for their noteworthy contributions to the conservation of the cave.

The Gupteshwar Cave continues to not only be a spiritual hub but also a significant contributor to the local economy.
