KATHMANDU: The visit of former King Gyanendra Shah to Bhaktapur on Sunday garnered substantial local support.
Former King Shah, responding to an invitation from Bhaktapur residents, toured Bhaktapur Durbar Square and the Taleju Temple today.
Upon his arrival in Bhaktapur, former King Shah received a warm welcome from thousands of local residents, encompassing people of all ages.
The enthusiastic gathering chanted slogans advocating for the return of the King to power and the salvation of the nation.
Former King Shah also engaged with locals who presented him with bouquets.
Afterward, he proceeded to visit Taleju Bhagwati and other temples within Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
The locals gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the former King Shah.
Notably, in the Bhaktapur city area, where there is a significant following of the Nepal Peasants and Workers Party, the locals exhibited remarkable excitement during the former King’s visit.
Those in attendance to welcome the former King proudly displayed the national flag of Nepal and donned traditional attire. Many carried flowers to offer to the former King.
