Nepal beats Singapore by 96 runs



KATHMANDU: Nepal has made a winning start in the first match of the Asia Qualifiers of the ICC U-19 World Cup beating Singapore by 96 runs.

In the first match held today at Eden Garden, Ajman, UAE, Nepal got a victorious start.

Nepal won the toss and batted first. Nepal scored 261 runs losing 7 wickets in the scheduled 50 over match.

Akash Tripathi played an innings of 78 runs for Nepal. He hit 7 fours and 1 six in 100 balls.

Bishal Bikram KC also scored a half-century. He remained unbeaten scoring 63 runs off 54 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.

Similarly, Arjun Kumal contributed 37 runs, captain Dev Khanal 21, Deepak Bohra 17, Deepak Prasad Dumre contributed 10 runs while Subash Bhandari scored 12 unbeaten runs.

For Singapore, Abhude Chhajer took two wickets and Mahiyu Bhatia, Advitya Bhargava, Aryavir Chaudhary took one wicket each.

The Singaporean team, which entered the field with a target of 262 runs, could score only 165 runs after losing 7 wickets in the allotted overs.

To contain Singapore, Hemant Dhami and Subas Bhandari took 2 wickets each while Bishal Bikram KC took 1 wicket.

Aryan Modi of Singapore scored the highest run with 58 runs while Siddhant Srinath contributed 44 runs.

Arjun Nagpal and Abyuday Chajer added 14 runs each. Arjun was run out and Abyuday  had the retired hot.
