Agree to revive pre-election five-party coalition

KATHMANDU: Four parties, including Nepali Congress (NC), have decided to finalize the presidential candidate today evening, sources said.

Top leaders of the Nepali Congress, Maoist Center, Unified Socialist and Janata Samajwadi Party, in Friday morning, held a three-hour meeting and decided to finalize the name of the presidential candidate on Friday evening.

NC leader Gagan Thapa said that the four parties will make a decision on the presidential candidate today.

Sources say that the parties are likely to agree on giving the presidential candidate to NC, and make Madhav Kumar Nepal, the Chairman of Unified Socialist Party, the prime minister for one year.

JSP, meanwhile, has demanded that it should get the post of Vice President.

The parties will then discuss the issue with other parties, including the Janamat Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, and Rastriya Janmorcha.

The parties are required to register nominations for the presidential candidate on Saturday.
