Three members of a family found dead in Dhankuta

DHANKUTA: Three members of the same family have been found dead in Dhankuta on Thursday.

The incident occurred in a house in Nigale, Dhankuta Municipality-1, during the early hours of Thursday.

DSP Raju Babu Maharjan from the District Police Office Dhankuta stated that the victims have been identified as 35-year-old Tikaram Gurung, his 36-year-old wife Bhima Gurung, and their 10-year-old son Ayush Gurung.

“Examining the scene, it appears that Tikaram may have taken his own life following the tragic deaths of his mother and son,” said DSP Maharjan.

“We are currently on-site and working to gather more information about the incident,” he added.

DSP Maharjan stated that Tikaram’s body was discovered hanging, while the bodies of his wife and son were found on the bed.

Local residents suspect that Tikaram, known for his heavy drinking, may have resorted to a murder-suicide in the midst of a domestic dispute during the night.

The police believe the incident transpired overnight, with neighbors alerting authorities upon the gruesome discovery early in the morning.
