Clash in Biratnagar, police fire tear gas

BIRATNAGAR: The police took to firing tear gas during the clash between the agitating parties demanding the renaming of the province and the police on Saturday afternoon.

The clash took place after the police blocked the traffic by marking the road in front of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers’ office as a prohibited area.

The police said that the clash broke out after the protesting party breached the prohibited area. The police fired tear gas and batons during the clash on the road 200 meters north of the Chief Minister’s office.
