Controversy surrounds NRNA 11th Convention as Dr. Badri KC declared President

KATHMANDU: The defeated candidates in the Non-Residential Nepali Association (NRNA) have raised serious concerns following the announcement of Dr. Badri KC’s victory as President.

The declaration of KC’s win has ignited a contentious dispute, with the candidates who lost the presidential race voicing their intention to challenge the election results on allegations of system hacking.

RK Sharma and Mahesh Shrestha, who vied for the presidency, asserted that KC manipulated the election results in his favor by tampering with the online voting system. The election committee reported that KC secured 1,378 votes, while Sharma received 1,281 votes, and Shrestha obtained 1,225 votes. Additionally, it has been disclosed that Gauriraj Joshi, representing Dr. KC’s panel, has been elected as the General Secretary.

Furthermore, Hemraj Sharma, Robin Sherchan, Ramsharan Simkhada, Khagendra Neupane, Raj Regmi, and Binod Shrestha have been elected as Vice Presidents, and Som Sapkota and Pravin Gurung have been chosen as Deputy General Secretaries. Online voting was arranged to facilitate participation by overseas representatives.

The NRNA convention featured a total of 120 nominations for 74 positions, including three candidates for the presidency, 18 candidates for six Vice Presidents, and two candidates for the position of General Secretary.
