KATHMANDU: As part of his initiation to end the current impasse in the House of Representatives (HoR), Speaker Devraj Ghimire is holding a discussion with the chief whips from various parties at his office in Singha Durbar today.
Chief whips from key political entities including the Nepali Congress, Maoist Center, CPN-UML, Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party have been invited by Speaker Ghimire for the discussion.
This marks the sixth significant effort by Speaker Ghimire to break the deadlock that has been stalling the functioning of the House.
Notably, Speaker Ghimire also engaged in talks regarding this matter with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday morning, underlining the seriousness of the issue at hand.
The CPN-UML, the main opposition party, has been the driving force behind the obstruction in the House of Representatives, stressing the formation of a high-level committee to conduct an inquiry into the alleged 60-kilo gold smuggling case.
In light of these developments, a session of the House of Representatives has been convened for 1 pm today.
This session holds the potential to pave the way for resolving the ongoing impasse and allowing parliamentary proceedings to move forward smoothly.
