Govt. delivering good works: Communication Minister Sharma

KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said that the incumbent government was delivering good works thereby ensuring good-governance, curbing corruption and fulfilling the aspirations of the people.

Addressing the annual general assembly of the Press Centre Nepal Pratisthan Provincial Committee here today, Minister Sharma as per the aspirations of the people.

Stating that the mass media had a prominent role in bringing the good works undertaken by the government, Minister Sharma reiterated that the government had spearheaded some good works.

Sharma viewed that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, learning from his previous two terms, was assuming the leadership of the government wisely in his third stint as the Head of the Government.

Arguing that the federal democratic republic governance system was the common achievement for the whole nation, the Minister expressed her concern over the increasing threat over the achievements gained from people’s struggle lately.

The Communications Minister mentioned that the Federal Democratic Republic is a common achievement of the entire country, adding that in recent days, there has been an increase in attacks on the achievements of the people’s struggle.

Calling for unity, she observed, “Media should play a strong role in protecting the political achievements.” She viewed that there was qualitative growth following the establishment of the republic.

The Minister claimed that the government was working towards streamlining the media sector. “The government’s policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year unveiled in the parliament on Friday seek to develop media as the industry of knowledge, implement proportional distribution of advertisement and further manage the media sector,” she shared.

Similarly, Bagmati Province Assembly member Saral Sahayatri urged the media persons to be factual and work in the favor of the people.

He requested the aspiring or working journalists to deliver as per their professional responsibilities and efficiency.

Press Centre Nepal’s Chairperson Bishnu Sapkota viewed that the journalists should bring down the increasing negative tendency in journalism.

Likewise, Vice-Chairperson of the Centre, Opendra Sharma, emphasized that the journalists should advocate for the working-class people.
