Govt actions are directed against corruption: PM Dahal

RUKUM EAST: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government has launched a meaningful campaign to combat corruption.

In his address to a program organized by the CPN (Maoist Center) at Putha Uttarganga of Rukum East, the Prime Minister, also the party Chair, said the government’s actions against ‘land-mafia’ and ‘gold smuggling’ are in the interests of the people and the nation.

“The Maoist-led government has demonstrated its capability of thwarting corruption and smuggling,” the Prime Minister claimed, citing the criminalization of loan sharking remaining as a residue of feudalism in the Tarai-Madhesh served justice for victims. “In addition to this, the incumbent government has meaningfully undertaken development endeavors, making a progress over the much-talked Pancheshwor Multipurpose Project.”

He also said that he had conversations with the Indian Prime Minister focusing on finding the solution to Nepal-India border issues, and Nepal and China have agreed to open various transit points.

The PM said, the northern neighbor has agreed to operate projects targeting transit points and one of such projects will be allotted to Rukum East, and it will be capable of improving the living standard of district people.

He also underlined the need of unification among the Maoist parties to institutionalize the achievements of the People’s War, adding that he met with CPN’s general secretary Netra Bikram Chand this morning and is in regular touch with Dr Baburam Bhattarai, the former Maoist leader, in regard with the unification.
