Triangular T20 Series: Nepal defeats Hong Kong by six wickets



KATHMANDU: In the thrilling triangular T20 international cricket series, Nepal triumphed once more with a resounding victory.

In a match held on Thursday, the home team clinched a spectacular win against Hong Kong by a commanding 6-wicket lead.

Opting to bowl after winning the toss, Nepal put up an exceptional performance, restricting Hong Kong to a meager 94 runs.

Nepal chased down the target with remarkable efficiency, concluding the task in just 13.5 overs.

Notably, Asif Sheikh of Nepal emerged as the top scorer, contributing an impressive 42 runs to the team’s victory.

Skipper Rohit Paudel showcased his prowess with a commendable 25 runs, while Gulsan Jha and the team made crucial contributions of 14 runs and 8 runs, respectively.

Additionally, Kushal Malla, Sandeep, and Kushal Bhurtel collectively strengthened Nepal’s position on the scoreboard.

Nepal exhibited a stellar batting performance, demonstrating remarkable synergy as they collectively notched up 28 runs for the first wicket, 30 runs for the fourth wicket, and 22 runs for the fifth wicket.

Ishan Khan of Hong Kong displayed an impressive bowling performance, taking 3 wickets.

Prior to this, Hong Kong managed to score 94 runs before losing all their wickets in 19.3 overs.

Nepal’s Karan KC exhibited exemplary bowling skills, claiming 4 wickets, while Sompal Kami and Avinash Bohora provided crucial support by taking 2 wickets each.

Kushal Malla and Mausam Dhakal also contributed to Nepal’s victory by claiming one wicket each.

Yaseem of Hong Kong emerged as the top scorer, accumulating an impressive 36 runs.

Despite an initial setback, with 14 runs and 4 wickets lost early in the match, Hong Kong struggled under relentless pressure.

Karan’s exceptional performance, conceding only 15 runs in four overs, further consolidated Nepal’s advantage. Hong Kong managed to score 19 runs for the fifth wicket and 30 runs for the sixth wicket, but the outstanding bowling from Sompal, who only conceded 10 runs in 3.3 overs, proved instrumental in securing Nepal’s triumph.

Nepal had earlier secured a convincing 7-wicket win against UAE in the first match held on Wednesday.

With another match left against both teams, Nepal remains poised to continue its winning streak.
