NSP holding Central Committee meeting on Nov. 22 and 23

KATHMANDU: Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) led by former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai is holding its Central Committee meeting on November 22 and 23.

Party sources said that the agenda of the meeting includes deliberations on the unity proposal extended by the Maoist Center and the establishment of an integration committee for potential unification.

In addition to addressing the Maoist Center’s proposal, party leader Mahindra Rai Yadav stated that discussions will encompass NSP’s ongoing campaigns and strategies for organizational fortification.

Notably, the meeting will also deliberate on the decision to conduct a convention in the upcoming Baisakh.

The executive meeting held in October this year had unequivocally rejected the Maoists’ letter, asserting a stance of non-negotiation until the response to the nine-point “basis letter”, sent earlier for unity, is received.

Further developments include the addition of a member to the negotiation team, spearheaded by party co-chairman Ganga Narayan Shrestha.

The party aims to maintain open discussions with political entities whose ideologies align with their own.

A notable point of contention within NSP revolves around the Maoists’ proposal, with Chairman Bhattarai advocating caution against immediate unification.
