Tri-nation T20 series: Nepal wins UAE by 7 wickets



KATHMANDU: Nepal secured a commanding victory in the tri-nation T20I series at home, triumphing over UAE by 7 wickets following a stellar 93-run partnership between captain Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airi.

In the match held on Wednesday, Nepal comfortably chased down the 141-run target set by UAE, with just 7 balls to spare.

Nepal had a shaky start at 3-51 in 8.5 overs but recovered magnificently, with Captain Poudel leading the charge with an unbeaten 51, accompanied by Airy, who contributed 34 runs.

Paudel’s 40-ball innings included 5 fours, while Airy’s aggressive 23-ball knock comprised 3 fours and 1 six.

The initial dismissals saw opener Kushal Bhurtel caught by Ali Nasir for 14 off Nilans Keswani, and Kushal Malla departing after scoring 11 runs, with Nasir executing a run-out.

Earlier in the match, UAE, having won the toss and elected to bat at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, posted 140 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Nepal is set to take on Hong Kong in their upcoming match scheduled for Thursday.
