Economy continued to decline after ousting UML govt: KP Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has blamed the ruling coalition for the poor condition of the national economy and said that the country’s economy is declining due to them (the ruling coalition).

Addressing the party entry program held at the UML’s central office on Saturday, Chairman Oli complained that the ruling coalition was there only for politics and they (the coalition) have no plans to boost the economy.

Oli claimed that the economy, which had reached a growth level of about 8 percent during his premiership, has started to decline continuously since then.

“After the UML left the government, instead of reforming the economy and developing the country, the ruling coalition leaders have busied themselves in hatching conspiracy,” he said, adding, “This has led the economy toward crisis.”

Commenting about the newly proposed Socialist Front and fringe parties’ eagerness to join, the UML Chairman remarked that there was nothing surprising and promising about it as the people know very well them all.

“They (the parties willing to join Socialist Front) had been in ‘living together’ since long, so there is nothing surprising and promising about them,” he said, adding, “those parties and leadership both got tested in the general election held in November.”
