KATHMANDU: In the four-nation women’s T20I series in Hong Kong, Nepal encountered its second straight loss as they were defeated by Hong Kong in their second match on Thursday, succumbing by 9 wickets.

With this defeat, Nepal’s chances of advancing to the finals have been extinguished, having previously lost to Tanzania by 27 runs in their opening match.

Hong Kong, on the other hand, secured victory in the series for the second consecutive time.

Chasing Nepal’s modest target of 57 runs, Hong Kong achieved the required total, losing only 1 wicket in 9 overs, with openers Natasa Mile and Sanjin Shehzad remaining unbeaten at 30 runs.

Opener Mariko Hill was the only wicket to fall, being run out after scoring 5 runs.

In the preceding innings, Nepal, having won the toss and batted at Wang Nai, were bowled out for 56 runs in 18 overs.

Rubina Chhetri top-scored with 25 runs and Sita Ranamagar got caught out.

Apart from Rubina, none of Nepal’s batsmen managed to reach double-digit scores against Hong Kong’s formidable bowling attack.

Ikar Sahar from Hong Kong restricted Nepal, taking 3 wickets, while Ruchitha Venkatesh claimed 2 wickets, and Mariko Hill and Kerry Chan each took one wicket.

In a notable development, wicketkeeper Kanchan Shrestha made her debut in the match against Hong Kong.
