ACC U-19 Asia Cup: Nepal playing against India today

KATHMANDU: In a crucial match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup group stage, the Nepali team is set to clash with India at the ICC Academy Oval-2 in Dubai today.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 11 am local time.

Despite facing consecutive defeats in the group stage, Nepal’s chances of advancing to the semi-finals remain alive, albeit only through mathematical possibilities.

India, having won one match and lost another in the group stage, aims to secure victory against Nepal to secure a spot in the last four.

In their previous encounters, India defeated Afghanistan by 7 wickets but suffered an 8-wicket loss to Pakistan.

Nepal, having lost to Pakistan by 7 wickets and Afghanistan by 73 runs in their first two group-stage matches, must win against India by a significant margin to enhance their net run rate for a chance at reaching the semi-finals.

Additionally, a substantial victory for Pakistan against Afghanistan is crucial for Nepal’s advancement.

In the concurrent Group A clash, Pakistan and Afghanistan will also battle it out today, with the game commencing at 11:30 am.

With two consecutive wins, Pakistan leads Group A with 4 points, followed by India in second place and Afghanistan in third, each with one win and one loss.

Nepal, having suffered two consecutive defeats, currently occupies the bottom spot in the table with zero points.

The outcome of today’s matches will determine the final standings and the teams progressing to the semi-finals.
