Gaun Aayeko Bato’ to be released in Nepal from May 31 next year



KATHMANDU: Come May 31next year, the audiences will be watching the much-awaited Nepali movie ‘Gaun Ayeko Bato’ (A Road to Village) which had its world premiere at the 48th annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last September.

The movie producers announced that the movie would be released in Nepal on May 31 coming year.

The movie, directed by Nabin Subba, has been screened in other international prestigious film festivals such as the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and the Mumbai Film Festival of India.

The movie relates the story of the indigenous Rai community and explains the conflict in a family after a road track is opened in their village, according to Director Subba.

Subba is credited with directing internationally acclaimed films such as ‘Khangri’, ‘Numafung’ and the like. The movie features artists such as Dayahang Rai, Pashupati Rai, Prasan Rai, Keshav Rai, Sumitra Rai, Raj Thapa and Prem Subba, among others.

Mahesh Rai and Director Subba have jointly written the script of the movie where the international cinematographer Josh Haren, editor Kwan Pun Leung, and musician Heidi Li have collaborated.

The motion picture is a community-funded film with contributions from Nepali individuals at home and abroad, according to the makers.
