Govt effortful in managing child care home: Minister Acharya



KATHMANDU: Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizen Surendra Raj Acharya said the government was effortful in managing childcare homes.

Minister Acharya said the government has been active in managing childcare homes operational in Biratnagar, Birgunj, Makawanpur, Doti, Bhaktapur, Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa accommodating children more than their capacities.

In a meeting with the National Assembly’s Delegated Management and Government Assurance Committee, he said tasks related to the management of child home improvement were being undertaken in Naubasta, Banke.

Minister Acharya further shared that efforts were underway to implement several arrangements, including approval for educating children being accommodated in care homes up to grade 10, budget for psychosocial consultation at child care homes from the Central Child Justice Committee and settlement of cases within 120 days as per the Children Act, 2075 BS.

He admitted that the childcare homes have accommodated a higher number of children beyond their capacities.
