KATHMANDU: A US military contingent is arriving in Kathmandu today for a joint military exercise with the Nepali Army (NA), scheduled to take place in Kathmandu from September 10th onwards.
Sources within the Nepali Army confirmed that the US Army team will touch down at Tribhuvan International Airport via a US Air Force aircraft.
The joint military exercise between the armed forces of both nations is slated to run from September 10th to September 29th, 2023. This marks the 40th edition of the regular joint exercise between the two countries.
A total of 42 military personnel will participate in the exercise, comprising 30 from the Nepali Army and 12 from the American Army.
The exercise will serve as a platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge in areas such as disaster management, search and rescue operations, humanitarian aid, and various other pertinent subjects.
Notably, the Nepali Army has been actively engaging in joint training and exercises with military organizations from several countries, including the United States, Britain, India, China, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Israel, and others.
These collaborations encompass a wide spectrum of activities, ranging from disaster management and anti-terrorism to mountain climbing and search and rescue operations.
