Economic situation not worrisome; efforts on for improvements: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today said the present situation was not worrisome as efforts were underway to bring improvements in the country’s economy by addressing the problems. There was panic created among people alleging looming economic crisis, but the situation is not like that and such anxiety has been gradually diminishing, he said while addressing the Nepal Trade Summit-2023 here.

Government active for restructuring communication sector: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the government is actively working for restructuring the communication sector of Nepal. He maintained that the government is effortful on developing new laws and structures related to communication and media as well as on resolving the problems in this sector.

PM Dahal appoints NC’s Surendra Acharya as Minister

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has appointed Surendra Acharya of Nepali Congress as a Minister. Prime Minister Dahal appointed Acharya as the Minister of Women, Children and Senior Citizens.

Ordinance tabled in House of Representatives

An ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts related to the Civil Code, 2080″ has been tabled at the House of Representatives. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung tabled the Ordinance in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives. The ordinance was promulgated by the President on May 3.

Vabrousek from Czech Republic wins Himalayan Extreme Triathlon title

Petr Vabrousek from Czech Republic won the Himalayan Extreme Triathlon title. In women’s category Tara Miranda Parsons from the United States claimed it. The triathlon considered to be the world’s highest extreme one, started in Pokhara on Saturday morning.

Will end all types of VAW: DPM Shrestha

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has vowed to end all types of violence against women (VAW). He said the government is committed to take action against the perpetrators of VAW and provide justice to the survivors. The workshop is organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

RPP Chairman Lingden asks PM Dahal to investigate all major corruption cases

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has asked Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda to prove his guts by opening files of “major corruption” scandals. Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Sunday, Lingden asked PM Dahal to to open the cases of widebody corruption, Maoist cantonments, etc.

CPN-UML to hold central committee in Kathmandu, not Jhapa

The CPN-UML has decided to hold its Central Committee meeting in Kathmandu. Earlier, the party had decided to hold the meeting in Jhapa. According to the party, the meeting will be held at UML’s Central Office, Chyasal in Laitpur from May 11-13.

Economic problems will be resolved through monetary policy: Finance Minister Mahat

Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has said the current economic problems could be resolved through the monetary policy instead of the fiscal policy. Initiatives would be taken to resolve the problems through the monetary policy as the government lacks options to run the fiscal policy, he said while addressing the Nepal Trade Summit-2023 here today organised by the Confederation of Commercial Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CBFIN).

10 Indian nationals arrested for acquiring Nepali citizenship

Police arrested 10 Indian nationals for obtaining Nepali citizenship certificates. SSP Manoj KC, Head of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, said that despite being permanent residents of India’s Uttar Pradesh, they were found to have obtained Nepali citizenship by submitting fake documents.

Three persons dead in Mugu avalanche

Three persons from Patarasi Rural Municipality in Jumla district died in an avalanche occurred on Saturday at Chyarkhu pass of Mugu district. Vice-Chairperson of Patarasi Rural Municipality Jan Maya Rokaya said that Tara Singh Sarki, 40, Purna Sarki, 36, and Bir Bohara, 36, of Talfigaun of Patarasi-2 died in the avalanche.
