Bird census starts in Nepal

350 ornithologists and conservation activists deployed for bird count

CHITWAN: The bird census has been started in Nepal.

The Himalayan Nature, under the leadership of the National Parks Department, has started bird counting in all national parks, wetlands and reservoirs from Saturday.

According to  Dr. Hemsagar Baral , the coordinator of National Bird Census program-2023, 350 bird experts and conservationists will participate in the counting. Bird counting will be taken ahead for three weeks.

The latest statistics reveal that there are 892 species of birds in Nepal, of which 200 are dependent on water.
