Nepal T20 Cricket League: Janakpur Royals beat Lumbini All Star



KATHMANDU: Janakpur Royals have booked a berth in the qualifiers of the ongoing Nepal T-20 Cricket League by defeating Lumbini All Star.

In a match held under the tournament at the TU Cricket Ground based in Kirtipur, Janakpur beat Lumbini by 223 runs to enter the qualifier round. Both teams are done with the league series game and have reached the qualifier.

Lumbini are on the top of the score tally while Janakpur are in the second place. Lumbini which were chasing a victory target of 160 runs could manage only 136 runs in 17 overs losing seven wickets. Anil Shah collected 35 runs, Lahiru Milantha 32, Sunil Dhamala 27 and Gulshan Jha 10 not out for Lumbini.
Janakpur skipper Travon Griffith took three wickets while Shamiullah Shinwari two wickets.

Before this, Janakpur which were sent into bat first after losing the toss, made 159 runs in 17 overs losing six wickets. Captain Travon Griffith made 47 runs off 11 balls and not out. Sharafuddin Asaraff made 34 runs, Khadak Bohora 22 and Shamiullah Shinwari 20 runs.

Sagar Dhakal and captain Kushal Bhurtel took two wickets each while Pat Brown and Ishan Pandey one wicket each for Lumbini.

Lumbini, which have played 10 matches, have won in eight and faced defeat in two matches. They are on the top of the score board with 16 points.

Similarly, Janakpur, which have played equal 10 matches, are in the second place in the score tally with 14 points. They won in seven matches and lost in three.

Both teams will play the first qualifier match on January 8 in their bid to reach the final. The winners will bag Rs 5.5 million and the first runner-up team with Rs 3 million.
