HUMLA: Snowfall has been occurring in the Humla district since this morning. The normal life of the district has been affected due to the increasing cold following the snowfall.

Lokesh Bohara, a health worker at Halji Health Post located in Namkha Rural Municipality-6, reported that the snowfall has been happening in the lower belt along with Simkot, and around one foot of snow has accumulated in the northern areas of the district.

Due to the snowfall, Namkha area is experiencing biting cold, causing issues in the movement of people, he shared.

The air service has also been affected, leading to passengers heading out of the district being stranded in Simkot, where up to four inches of snow has been observed.

Farmers are pleased with the snowfall, as they hope it will benefit various crops such as wheat, barley, and others.

Mustang sees the season’s first snowfall. Snowfall has occurred in Mustang for the first time this season, starting on Monday morning.

It is snowing in all areas, including the surroundings of the district headquarters, Jomsom, according to Ram Prasad Adhikari, the Assistant Chief District Officer.

Despite the ongoing rain, offices are open, and means of transport are operating, he stated.

Although life has been affected by the cold, farmers are happy with the snowfall.

The crops cultivated by farmers had started wilting away due to drought.

“The crops and vegetables are expected to thrive due to the precipitation this season. Although the sky used to be cloudy, there was no rain before this. It’s good that it snowed today,” he said.
