Maoist Center adds 22 women members to Central Committee

KATHMANDU: The Central Committee of the ruling CPN-Maoist Center undergoing in Kathmandu these days has expanded itself adding 22 women leaders and made it a team of 407 members.

The Maoist Center added leaders Ang Dawa Sherpa, Indira Adhikari, Uma Kapali, Urmila BK, Ganga Khadka, Gita Kumari Kandel Chaulagain, Geeta Shahi, Chham Kumari Khanal as central members.

Similarly, Dilmaya Budhamagar, Nirmaya Sris, Neesha Neupane, Parvati Thapa, Bhagwati Tiwari, Motikala Chaane, Lal Kumari Pun, Leela Sharma, Sapana Pariyar have also been added to the central committee. Likewise, Sita Dahal, Sushila Ghimire, Sushila Poudal, Surya Kumari BK, and Sharu Chaudhary have also been added central members.

Although the Ninth General Convention held in December 2021 decided to increase the number of women in the Central Committee to 35 percent, it has not been implemented yet.

In the organizational report presented by Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’in the central committee meeting that started on Wednesday, the Chairman proposed to add 22 people to ensure 35 percent representation of women.

The central members of the party are expressing their views on the report presented by Chairman Prachanda.

The meeting will continue till Sunday.
