Health Minister Giri expresses commitment to improve health sector



KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population, Padam Giri, has pledged maximum reforms and transformations in the health sector.

The Minister promised to ensure that people feel change in basic health service.

“The national health sector is marred by numerous issues. We will switch to necessary action for reforms and transformations in the health sector,” he said.

The Minister urged journalists to write against misconducts and anomalies in the health sector, assuring of the delivery of quality service to the people.

Also speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Health and Population, Dr Toshima Karki, said the government was committed to ensuring quality health services to the people.

Similarly, lawmaker Nisha Dangi highlighted the need for guaranteeing quality healthcare services to the people.

Director General of the Department of Health Services, Dr Dipendra Raman Singh, said the government was exploring ways to bring reforms in the health sector and provide accessible and quality health services to the people.

Nepal Health Research Council’s executive director Dr Pradeep Gyawali urged media people to attach priority to the dissemination of research-based news contents from the health sector.

Health Insurance Board executive director Dr. Damodar Basaula claimed that the Board was doing its best to implement the Health Insurance Progamme effectively and ensure people’s right to quality healthcare.

Forum President Rama Prasad Neupane and former President Kalpana Acharya insisted on the need of capacity enhancement of health journalists.

On the occasion, lawmaker Dangi who is also the Forum member was congratulated on her election on the MP post. The convention will conclude by electing a new leadership for the Forum.
