PM Dahal urges EC to initiate process to hold election of President, Vice President



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged Election Commission (EC) officials to initiate necessary process for the election of the President, Vice President and Members of the National Assembly as per the provisions of the constitution and law.

In a discussion held with EC officials on Monday, PM Dahal urged the former to proceed with the necessary process for the election of vacant members of the National Assembly, President and Vice President.

“You (EC office bearers) put forward the process for the election to the vacant position of a NA member. For the elections of President and Vice President, we will hold discussions among political parties, and reach a conclusion,” he said.

On the occasion, he thanked the EC for successfully organising the local elections and the polls to the House of Representatives and the Province Assembly.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane and others were present in the meeting.

In the meeting, EC Chief Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya and other Commissioners informed about the functioning of the Election Commission and the election process.
